It was initially organized as the Department of Recreation and Physical Rehabilitation, headed by the candidate of pedagogical sciences, associate professor A. M. Tuchak. In 1999, due to the reorganization of the Department of Biological Foundations of Physical Education and the Department of Recreation and Physical Rehabilitation, the Department of Physical Rehabilitation was established, headed successively by candidate of medical sciences, professor B. P. Greida; doctor of medical sciences, professor V. S. Pikaluk; candidate of pedagogical sciences, associate professor T. Ye.
