Indyka Svitlana Yaroslavivna – Ph.D. in Physical Education and Sports, Associate Professor, Head of the Department

Historical information

In May 2020, three departments were created on the basis of two departments of the faculty namely the Theory of Physical Education, Fitness and Recreation Department and Mass Sports and Tourism Work Department, among them there was the Fitness and Cyclic Sports Department. The department is a graduating one for training specialists of educational degrees Bachelor and Master in the specialty 017 Physical Culture and Sports.

Groups for improving sport skills :

Athletics is an accessible sport, and systematic performance of track and field exercises will help students:

• to improve the physical qualities of body (strength, flexibility, speed, agility and endurance); • to provide a good body posture; • to form a muscular corset; • to strengthen the muscles of the shoulder girdle, muscles of the pelvic floor, muscles stabilizing the body in space; • to increase the vital capacity of the lungs; • to prevent the development of hypertension, tachycardia, osteoporosis, osteochondrosis of the lumbar, thoracic, and cervical spine; • to rise mental productivity due to the formation of new neural connections; • to master moral and willpower qualities and self-organization; • to boost the level of the immune system as well as the hardening of the body to adverse conditions.

                                     Athletics Sprint (short-distance running)

Coach:: Savchuk Svitlana Ivanivna – Ph.D. in Physical Education and Sports, Associate Professor, Judge National Category athletics, Candidate Master of Sports.

Honors and awards: the Gratitude of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine (2020), the Thanks of the President of the Athletics Federation of Ukraine (2019), the Diploma of the Volyn Regional Department of Physical Education and Sports of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine (2009), the Golden Badge from the Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University (2018).

The purpose of the academic discipline Athletics, Sprint is:

• acquisition of knowledge, skills and professional and pedagogical competences by students, which are necessary for implementing individual speed and strength capabilities and preparation for higher achievements in short-distance running.

The main tasks the academic discipline Improving Sport skills (Athletics, Sprint) are:' • education of high moral and willpower qualities, strengthening of health, comprehensive physical development, increase of functional capabilities of the body, mastering of a complex of special theoretical knowledge, practical skills and technical and tactical skills in athletics.

                                      Athletics (Middle-distance running) 

Coch: : Valkevych Oleksandr Vasyliovych Ph.D. in Physical Education and Sports, Associate Professor, Judge National Category athletics, Candidate Master of Sports. Honors and awards: the Gratitude of the President of the Athletics Federation of Ukraine For Conscientious Work, High Professionalism and Significant Contribution to the Organization of the Super League European Team All-Around Championship (2019).

                                      Athletics (Athletics throwing) 

Coach: Cherkashyn Roman Yevgenovych - is a Top category coach, teacher-coach, Master of Sports of Ukraine in athletics, Honored Worker of Physical Culture and Sports of Ukraine, Honored Coach of Ukraine, National Category judge in athletics.

Honors and awards: the Gratitude of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the Volyn Regional State Administration (2017), the Gratitude of the Chairman of the Volyn Regional Council (2018), the Gratitude of the Chairman of the Volyn Regional State Administration (2019), the Golden Badge from Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University (2019), the Certificate of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (2020).

Doudle Diploma Program

The Department, together with the Theory of Physical Education and Recreation Department and the Jan Dlugosz University of Natural Sciences and Humanities in Częstochowa (Poland) implement the Double Diploma Program. The students − the future teachers of physical education − have the opportunity to receive 2 professional diplomas of higher education at the same time Ukrainian and Polish one within the framework of the program. Currently, the students of the Bachelor and Master degree in the specialty 014 Secondary Education (Physical Culture) study under the program.

Research Work

The Department is responsible for the publication of the specialized scientific journal Physical Education, Sport and Health Culture in Modern Society. The specialized scientific journal of Ukraine included in the list of specialized scientific periodicals of Ukraine (Category C “B”) (Order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine No. 1643 dated December 28, 2019).

International cooperation

Cooperation with leading foreign institutions of higher education has been established. Including:
