The Department of Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy traces its origins back to 1996 (History and present of the department). It was initially organized as the Department of Recreation and Physical Rehabilitation, headed by the candidate of pedagogical sciences, associate professor A. M. Tuchak. In 1999, due to the reorganization of the Department of Biological Foundations of Physical Education and the Department of Recreation and Physical Rehabilitation, the Department of Physical Rehabilitation was established, headed successively by candidate of medical sciences, professor B. P. Greida; doctor of medical sciences, professor V. S. Pikaluk; candidate of pedagogical sciences, associate professor T. Ye. Tsyupak; candidate of sciences in physical education and sports, professor A. I. Alyoshina; doctor of biological sciences, professor Yu. Ye. Lyakh. In 2015, the department was renamed the Department of Human Health and Physical Rehabilitation, later the Department of Human Health and Physical Therapy. Since 2019, the department has been headed by doctor of sciences in physical education and sports (specialty 24.00.03 – physical rehabilitation), professor Olga Andriichuk. In 2020, the department was renamed the Department of Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy and integrated into the Educational-Scientific Medical Institute, and since 2021, it has been part of the Medical Faculty.
